As a South Florida native and a lover of fine beer I began brewing at home in 1993. I started very simply in my kitchen but soon was brewing 40 gallon batches in a brew day on my back porch. I studied every book on the subject, and even traveled the world over just to visit different breweries to learn from them. In 1996 after achieving high scores in many local brewing contests, I decided to enter the “World Home Brew” contest sponsored by Samuel Adams. Even though there were over 800 entries, I won first place. I was honored to be… invited to brew my beer with the makers of Samuel Adams as well as winning a trip to the British Isles. A year later the brewers of Samuel Adams reproduced my recipe in 6 packs for the market place.
In 2006 I founded what became known as “Holy Mackerel Small Batch Beers” and in 2007 my first beer was born – a Belgian style golden ale and shortly thereafter followed by several other extremely bold flavorful brews.
